DaoChi
DaoChi: Following the Way of Balance, Breath, and Being
In DaoChi, we explore the ancient Eight Brocades (Baduanjin) – one of the most enduring and influential movement practices in Chinese history. From these simple yet profound exercises emerged traditions such as Tai Chi, Qigong, Kung Fu, and many other martial and meditative arts. The Eight Brocades have been practiced for thousands of years across China and beyond, known for harmonizing body, breath, and mind. In DaoChi, we integrate these classical movements with gentle influences from Indian martial arts such as Kalaripayattu, creating a bridge between two ancient streams of wisdom. This foundational sequence of eight movements can be practiced anywhere- no special equipment or large space required. In just a few minutes a day, DaoChi cultivates balance, vitality, and inner stillness, helping practitioners reconnect with the natural rhythm of life.
About the Founder
Mukt Mukh is an artist, educator, and wellness practitioner based in San Francisco, California. Originally from Wayanad, Kerala, India, his journey bridges Eastern and Western traditions, from Yoga and Kalaripayattu to Tai Chi, Daoist philosophy, and creative education. Over the past two decades, Mukt has explored how art, movement, and meditation can shape a more conscious and harmonious life. His studies at City College of San Francisco and his encounters with teachers like Judy Hubbel and Prof. Anne Tse inspired him to weave music, breath, and body awareness into a single practice — one that honors both Indian and Chinese wisdom traditions. DaoChi emerged from this lifelong exploration: a path that unites Dao (The Way) and Chi (Vital Energy) into a living philosophy of balance, health, and joy. Through DaoChi, Mukt continues to teach and share the art of living slowly, breathing deeply, and finding stillness in motion.
