Movie Night – “Anora” Encore

Anora is a raw, darkly comedic drama that follows Ani, a young stripper from Brooklyn, as her life takes a wild turn after she meets and impulsively marries the charming yet naive son of a Russian oligarch. What starts as a whirlwind romance quickly spirals into chaos when his wealthy family intervenes, unleashing a series of increasingly absurd and dangerous events. As Ani navigates the clash between her gritty reality and their opulent world, the film explores themes of love, class, and survival with both biting humor and heartfelt moments. Directed by Sean Baker, Anora is a bold, unflinching look at the lengths people go to for connection—and the price they pay for it.
